Schneider publishes 50,000 EPDs

Industrial giant Schneider Electric has published 50,000 environmental product declarations for its products in what’s believed to be a record for the industry.
The EPDs, which include lighting and lighting accessories, have been released on the OneClick LCA platform, taking the number of mechanical, electrical and plumbing products on the site to over 70,000.
According to Cibse research, MEP contributes 15 to 50 per cent of embodied carbon in commercial buildings and up to 50 per cent of embodied carbon in retrofits over the building’s lifetime.
‘To lower carbon emissions from construction, the industry depends on having access to environmental data for every material they use in a project,’ said Sorouch Kheradmand, global head of sustainability partnerships at Schneider Electric. ‘By publishing this record amount of EPD data for our electrical components, we’re making it as easy as possible to select the most sustainable and applicable products for every construction project.’
One Click LCA is used by enterprises including AECOM, Arcadis, Foster+Partners, WSP, ArcelorMittal, Geberit, and Saint-Gobain, among others.
Last year Schneider Electric was named the world’s most sustainable corporation 2025 by Corporate Knights and is the only company to rank first in the Global 100 twice.
Schneider Electric previously topped the annual list of the most sustainable publicly listed companies in 2021.
‘For many years now, sustainability has been at the heart of what Schneider Electric does,’ company CEO Olivier Blum told the press. ‘It’s the driving force that shapes our business decisions and inspires our employees’.
Some of its strong scores were for efforts to decouple its energy consumption and carbon emissions from its business growth, and its strong investment in sustainable research and development.
‘Schneider Electric’s position at the top of the Global 100 index is remarkable. No other company has accomplished this twice,’ said Toby Heaps, Corporate Knights’ CEO.
