Modular downlight takes circular economy prize
A modular range of downlights designed to be demountable and upgradable has won a Build Back Better Gold award in the Circular Economy category.
Every single element of Linea Light Group’s series of EVO downlights has been designed to be assembled and disassembled without using any tools, but just with mechanical movements.
The innovative system also allows users to customise their fixtures with over 600 different combinations which span three different design aesthetics (Quantum, Vos, Warp), two optic layouts to increase visual comfort, five optics with different openings, three colour light temperatures and three different powers controlled by on-off, dimming 1-10V and DALI protocol with double IP.
The optic has a guaranteed IP65 front protection rating, i.e. total protection against the ingress of dust and fine particles, as well as water spray and jets. The rating refers exclusively to the optic compartment and not to the light body, which has a IP20 rating.
A new accessory has also been included to Warp_EVO and Quantum_EVO models to adapt to any installation need. The new adapter ring accessory increases the front diameter of the fixture with the option of installing EVO downlights in pre-existing holes or in situation where a precise hole is not made.
Linea Light Group describes the development is ‘the most important modular evolution of all time’ in its professional downlights. ‘It’s a new way of producing light which projects lighting experts into a dimension not only of design but of “future thinking”.’
Other lighting entries taking awards in the energy categories of the Build Back Better Awards included Circular Place, a luminaire exchange website from Recolight and the Nos Sphere 228 chandelier, a light made from recycled laughing gas canisters. The latter was created by London designer Matthew Kavanagh of Diplomat Design.
