Control firm Jung gets Cradle to Cradle certification

Jung C2C

German lighting control, switch and home automation specialist Jung has announced that it has obtained the Cradle to Cradle certification for a number of its products.

The ranges are manufactured in accordance with the five Cradle to Cradle requirements of material health, material reutilisation, production using renewable energy, water stewardship and social responsibility.

The Cradle to Cradle certified range include LS 990, LS Cube, AS 500, A 550, A Flow and A Creation.

The company says it is also actively participating in and supporting various innovative, green pilot projects, such as the Solar Decathlon Europe competition and the BetaPort circular construction system.

A green step that Jung has taken outside its factory walls is to support and facilitate sustainable, innovative initiatives.

For the first Solar Decathlon Europe competition in Wuppertal, Germany, Jung supported two teams by providing state-of-the-art electrical equipment, pioneering smart-home technology and decades of electro-technical know-how. This international competition focuses on material-saving and energy-efficient architectural and engineering creations. The Wuppertal edition was the first to focus on urban living and construction.

Last year, a group of Jung employees committed to planting no fewer than 1,700 trees on a site near the firm’s headquarters in western Germany, through a reforestation plan called Plant my tree. The initiative received so much praise that we are now considering turning it into an annual event for all employees, thus making a sustainable contribution to a greener living environment every year.
