UK on track to meet 2017 WEEE lamp collection target
The Q2 WEEEE collection data has been published by the Environment Agency today, 1 September.
The Q1 & Q2 total for WEEE lamps collections is 3002 tonnes. In addition to this, 140 of non-obligated waste has also been recorded.
Non-obligated waste is that which is treated directly through a recycler and not collected by or on behalf of a Producer Compliance Scheme.
With the national target for 2017 set at 6132 tonnes, this means that the UK is likely to hit and possibly exceed the target, if the non-obligated that is collected in Q3 and Q4 becomes obligated.
We make the assumption that collections in Q3 and Q4 will continue at the same rate.
At Recolight, we are convinced that offering a free waste lamp recycling service is key to ensuring the UK meets our lamp collection target.
