Tamlite achieves silver EcoVadis rating

Tamlite Silver EcVadis

Tamlite Lighting has been awarded a silver rating by EcoVadis, the independent body that assesses corporate sustainability and social responsibility. The designation places the company in the top 15 per cent of firms evaluated by the organisation.

EcoVadis assesses businesses across several criteria, including environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Tamlite’s Silver ranking reflects incremental progress in these areas.

Richard Wharrad, the company’s head of SSV for in-house manufacturing, noted the significance of the rating. ‘EcoVadis is an important measure for Tamlite, and as such, I am pleased that we have received a silver medal. It provides a useful benchmark for assessing progress in sustainability and social values.’

Tamlite has sought to integrate sustainability into its operations, working with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders to meet evolving regulatory and market expectations. The company has emphasised energy efficiency, responsible sourcing, and ethical business practices as part of its broader strategy.

The firm expects to continue refining its approach to sustainability. ‘We will maintain a focus on the core values ingrained across the business and engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure progress continues,’ Wharrad said.

The Silver rating represents a significant achievement in a competitive field where businesses face increasing scrutiny over their environmental and social impact.

Last year, Tamlite urged the lighting industry and the wider built environment sector to embrace remanufacturing as a step towards achieving net zero.

In a white paper, the firm explored how significant sustainability gains can be made throughout the supply chain through remanufacturing luminaires. The white paper, entitled Towards Net Zero: Can Remanufacturing Create a More Sustainable Future for Lighting? drew on the company’s collaborative work with CIBSE and other industry bodies to support the development of remanufactured products. This includes initiatives such as CIBSE’s TM66 Circular Economy Assessment Methods (CEAM).
