Recolight teams up with carbon experts to help firms get to net zero
Recolight has announced a partnership with the carbon assessment consultancy Auditel to help manufacturers of luminaires begin their journey to net zero.
The agreement will see the launch of a Recolight service which will help lighting brands with their carbon accounting and management to global standards while minimising costs.
Since 1994, Auditel has built a network of procurement and carbon specialists who can give companies access to knowledge and expertise in procurement and decarbonisation.
The service will be headed by Michael Collett, pictured right, an Auditel assessor and the former managing director of Wila Lighting.
The consultancy provides a comprehensive procurement service, covering over 100 cost areas across all sectors.
It says that due to its procurement expertise, it can potentially self-fund companies on their net zero journey, or even make it more profitable through cost removal and cost transformation.
The process begins with a couple of steps, which could lead applicants being verified as Carbon Neutral within 12 months, to an internationally recognised standard.
‘Using our procurement expertise we make sure any action taken to improve your environmental credentials have a strong and potentially self-funding business case because we truly believe that being carbon neutral doesn’t need to cost the earth,’ says Auditel.
The new service is designed to complement Recolight’s other recently-announced environmental data division, which is designed to help manufacturers create Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations for their luminaires.
The organisation teamed up with global software platform One Click LCA to streamline the process of measuring a light fitting’s carbon impact.
Recolight’s strategic partnership with One Click LCA follows the recent launch of One Click LCA’s Luminaire EPD Generator, a specialised tool creating
The strategic partnership will harness the industry-leading position of both One Click LCA and Recolight, to offer expertise, guidance, and world-leading LCA and EPD technology to the lighting industry.
By generating LCAs and EPDs, lighting manufacturers will better understand the carbon impact of their products and satisfy increasing specifier and client requirements for achieving green certifications like Breeam, LEED, Net Zero, and more.
• Mike Collett will unveil the new carbon assessment service at Circular Lighting Live 2024, Recolight’s flagship conference and exhibition, which takes place on Wednesday 9 October 2024 at the Royal College of Physicians in London.
