Aecom backs One Click LCA
Engineering and lighting design consultancy Aecom has selected One Click LCA’s sustainability platform to help it decarbonise its projects.
The collaboration enhances Aecom’s strategy that aims to deliver a 50% per cent carbon reduction on major client projects. The practice’s engineers will use One Click LCA’s suite of carbon assessment and other sustainability tools for buildings and infrastructure projects, without geographic limitations.
The agreement grants Aecom access to One Click LCA’s verified platform, enabling comprehensive carbon data collection and seamless integration into Aecom’s ScopeX portal.
Earlier this month Recolight – publisher of the Circular Lighting Report – signed a deal with One Click LCA to bring its software platform to UK lighting manufacturers.
The deal will help them create Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations for their luminaires.
The strategic partnership follows the recent launch of One Click LCA’s Luminaire EPD Generator, a specialised tool creating EPDs for lighting products.
Recolight CEO Nigel Harvey told the Circular Lighting Report: ‘An increasing number of specifiers and end-users are now demanding credible environmental metrics as part of their lighting procurement and specification.
‘Those companies that move early will gain a competitive advantage. We are delighted that through our partnership with One Click LCA, we can provide access to industry leading LCA and EPD software that enhances embodied carbon transparency, and helps both specifiers and manufacturers move towards a low carbon future.’
By generating LCAs and EPDs, lighting manufacturers will better understand the carbon impact of their products and satisfy increasing specifier and client requirements for achieving green certifications like Breeam, LEED, Net Zero, and more.
Recolight is known for its commitment to reuse, the circular economy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. By partnering with One Click LCA, Recolight says it can offer its members and other industry stakeholders access to world-leading software — already used by several lighting brands — that simplifies the process of creating accurate and credible LCAs and EPDs for their products.
Recolight says the benefits of the partnership include simple EPD generation, as the intuitive software automates the process, helping lighting manufacturers to save time and resources.
• A special presentation on the new environmental data service takes place at Circular Lighting Live 2024, Recolight’s flagship conference and exhibition, on Wednesday 9 October 2024 at the Royal College of Physicians in London. Free to specifiers, Circular Lighting Live 2024 will feature leading experts, specifiers and policy makers who will share their insights into forthcoming standards and legislation, emerging technologies and new business models.
